Private coaching in Washington, DC for women in midlife

A city that asks what you do first

You’ve had the conversation a thousand times. Someone learns your title and adjusts their posture. In DC that shorthand works so well that years can pass without anyone asking the other question, and eventually you stop asking it yourself.

Two women hugging and smiling by the water at sunset, one in a patterned headwrap.

The women who reach out from DC are lawyers, federal employees, physicians, policy people, nonprofit leaders, consultants, and Hill staff. They are very good at what they do, and it hides a lot. The pace feels normal until something breaks it: a body that won’t run on four hours anymore, a parent’s diagnosis, a promotion that felt like nothing.

Discretion, in plain terms

Most DC clients ask about this first. Haven is private-pay and doesn’t bill insurance, so no insurer sees your coaching and there is no claim in a database. Sessions are by video, with no waiting room or lobby, so you won’t run into someone from your agency or firm on the way out.

Who coaching is for

Dr. Martha Morgan Gobert coaches women in midlife who are very capable and quietly worn down. Women come with:

  • Burnout that rest alone doesn’t ease

  • Caring for children and parents at once

  • The question of whether you still want what you spent twenty years earning

  • A big change that needs a plan

Perimenopause and menopause often get waved off as stress. We can’t diagnose hormonal changes, but we take what you’re noticing seriously and help you sort out what to ask for.

When coaching isn’t the right fit

Coaching isn’t therapy, and it doesn’t diagnose or treat anything. It isn’t right if you need mental health care: ongoing distress, symptoms that follow a loss, a life event, or trauma, or anything that is getting in the way of your daily life. Dr. Martha will tell you in the consultation if therapy would serve you better, and she will help you find it.

If you want therapy

Dr. Martha is licensed in Georgia, Oklahoma, and Michigan, and she is accepting new therapy clients there. If you will be in one of those states during your sessions, she can see you. Otherwise you can join the therapy waitlist on the Get Started page.

What it costs

Coaching is $175 for a 50 to 55 minute session. Haven is private-pay. Insurance doesn’t cover coaching, so there is no superbill.
