Does Haven take insurance?

Haven is private-pay and does not take insurance. For therapy, you can ask for a superbill and talk with your therapist before using out-of-network benefits. Coaching is not covered by insurance and has no superbill.

How much does therapy or coaching cost?

Therapy and coaching with Dr. Martha are each $175 for a 50 to 55 minute session. The 15-minute consultation is free.

Do I need to schedule a consultation to start services?

Yes. Every client starts with a free 15-minute video consultation with Dr. Martha, who will tell you honestly whether she can help.

Is Haven the right fit for me?

Haven is for women in midlife who are carrying a lot and want help sorting it out. It is not the right fit for an emergency, or for needs outside what Dr. Martha offers. In a crisis, call or text 988.

Do you offer therapy where I live?

Dr. Martha sees therapy clients in Georgia, Oklahoma, and Michigan, as long as you are physically in one of those states during your session. Anywhere else she can coach you, and you can join the therapy waitlist.

What is the difference between therapy and coaching?

Therapy looks at what hurts and where it comes from. Coaching looks at what is next. Coaching is not therapy, does not diagnose or treat anything, and is not right if you need mental health care.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on what you are working on. Sessions are usually weekly or every other week.

Does Dr. Martha prescribe medication?

No. She is a therapist and does not prescribe.

Detroit and the suburbs, Grand Rapids, Ann Arbor, Lansing, Flint, Traverse City, and the Upper Peninsula, where the nearest therapist may be hours away. You need to be physically in Michigan during your session.

Dr. Martha also coaches women in every state. Coaching is for a decision, a role that no longer fits, or a change that needs a plan. It isn’t therapy, and it isn’t right if you need mental health care. She will tell you if therapy would serve you better.
