Online Therapy for Women in Midlife in Georgia, Where Haven Started

If you knew us as Haven Therapy of Atlanta, you’re in the right place

Same founder, same work, same standard of care. The practice began in Atlanta and was known as Haven Therapy of Atlanta. In 2025 we relocated to Frederick, Maryland and became Haven Therapy + Wellness. Because the practice was already fully virtual, Georgia clients kept their weekly sessions without a gap. Nothing about the care changed except the name on the door and the state the door is in.

Georgia is still home base in the way that matters. It’s where the practice was built, where the first groups ran, and where a good share of our clients have been with us for years.

Both of our clinicians are licensed in Georgia

This is the practical piece. Dr. Carla Smith, PhD, LCSW, LMFT, our founder, is licensed in Georgia. So is Dr. Martha Morgan, PhD, LMFT, who works with individuals and couples and has a particular gift for partnerships in midlife: the ones under strain, the ones that have gone quiet, the ones rebuilding after a big change.

Two licensed clinicians means we can usually offer you an actual appointment rather than a waitlist, and it means the consultation is a real conversation about which of them fits you better. That’s the point of a group practice. You get matched with the right therapist, not simply the available one.

Across the state, not just the metro

We work with women in Atlanta and throughout the metro, Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, Gwinnett, Fayette, and the counties past them, and with women in Savannah, Augusta, Athens, Macon, and Columbus. Also the smaller places in between, where the nearest therapist who understands perimenopause might be a ninety-minute drive and a half-day off work. Video removes that problem entirely.

What brings women here

Perimenopause, and the frustration of raising it with a physician and being told it’s probably just stress. Anxiety that arrived or got louder in the forties. Burnout in a career you built deliberately. Motherhood alongside caring for your own parents. A marriage that turned into a household operations meeting. Grief, including the losses no one sends casseroles for. Old trauma that resurfaces when life gets big again.

Our clients are accomplished women, roughly late thirties to late fifties, who are used to being the person others rely on. Being the one who needs something is unfamiliar territory. That’s fine. Come as you are and we’ll sort through it together.

Sessions, groups, and fees

Individual and relationship therapy runs a full 50 to 55 minutes at $175. Group therapy is 60 minutes at $55, in small circles of six to eight women led by a licensed therapist. Coaching is $175 and available in every state, for the woman who isn’t looking for therapy right now but is looking hard at a decision.

We’re private-pay and don’t bill insurance. No diagnosis is required to be seen, no company limits your number of sessions, and no record of your therapy lands in an insurance file. We provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement if you want it.

Come back, or start fresh

Whether you’ve been with us since the Atlanta days or you’re finding Haven for the first time, the entry point is the same: a free 15-minute consultation, and a straight answer about whether we’re the right fit.

Haven is not an emergency service. If you need urgent help, call or text 988.
